Extended Residential:
Services for those who need on-going supervision

Recognizing that some people need on-going care and supervision, Rose Hill offers an Extended Residential Program.

Horton House, a five-bed home located near the entrance to Rose Hill, has provided this service to male residents since 2004. In response to the tremendous demand for this type of programming, Rose Hill added the 12-bed Malta House for men and women to the Extended Residential Program in May, 2007.

This program has proven to be an important option for those people who, despite showing improvement in the Residential Rehabilitation Program, still require a moderate level of daily support. Both houses provide round-the-clock supervision, organized social and volunteer activities, community meals, and medication monitoring in a safe and supportive setting.

The residents of each house participate in programs that are similar, but independent. They are able to utilize all of Rose Hill’s resources, including the classroom, library, computer room, art room, music room, gym and more, and, within a framework of choices, each group collectively chooses its activities for the day.

Both houses have their own transportation, so the residents can plan town trips, outings, and other activities in the community. In 2007, the men at Horton House received an award from the Genesee County Humane Society for their volunteer service. They also received community recognition for their volunteer work at nearby Holly Gardens Park.
